In this video we're going to demonstrate how to use CaptionSync's Redo feature. The Redo feature allows you to change formatting settings, request different output files, correct and alter the text transcript, fix timing errors, and more. This feature is available for six months after your initial media submission at no additional cost. Note that you cannot add Video Encoding or Digital NLE Captions to a redo of an original submission where these services weren't already selected. Let’s start then. First log into your CaptionSync account, then open the “Status of Existing Submissions” page. Here you can see a list of all your submissions. Choose the submission you’d like to redo and click on the AST ID link. This will bring up the “Submission Details” page. Make sure the submission is eligible for a redo on the “Eligible for Redo” field. If the job is older than 6 months, or if it is a Production Transcript or Transcription-only submission, it will not be eligible. Next, if you intend to change the text or timing of the submission, look for the “Text Transcript Submitted”, or “Text Transcript Created” field; we call this the “Raw Text Transcript”. This is the file you need to download and edit if you wish to make changes to the transcript or add synchronization markers. Do not use any other file as the starting point for your transcript revisions, and please ensure you leave the file in a .txt format. Often the transcriber will have added markers to the transcript to ensure a proper sync. If you make changes to the transcript, make sure you leave these in place. Now open the “Click here to Redo” link. This will bring you to the Redo screen. Here you can check your current settings on the yellow Summary Sticky, like the Language and Outputs. You also have a drop-down list that allows you to choose to use the settings from one of your recent submissions. On the Advanced Settings dialog box you can make changes to the settings or choose additional output formats. When you’re done making changes, click the “Apply Changes to Redo” button. On the Submission Redo page, you can also choose what transcript you want to use. You have two options: to upload a revised transcript or to use the original transcript, thereby only changing settings. If you have previously issued a Redo for this job, you’ll have a third option where you can use the transcript from your last Redo. When you have all the options set, click the “Submit Redo” button. The submission process is quick because we’re using the media file from the original job. Next you’ll see the Redo Status screen, and your results email will arrive in just a few minutes. You can retrieve the new results from your Results email, or go to the “Status of Existing Submissions” page, select the redo job, open the “Submission Details” page and download the files from here. Those are the basics of redos. If your original submission included Video Encoding there is one other point you should be aware of. Your original video is only stored on our servers for 30 days after your original submission, so redos involving Video Encoding, like open captions or subtitle encoding, cannot be redone after 30 days. You can still redo other aspects of your submission for up to six months, for example changing the settings or selecting additional side-car output formats, but you will not receive an updated M4V on redos performed more that 30 days after the original submission. If you have any questions feel free to contact us, and as usual check out our CaptionSync Support Center under the Help link in your account, as it has answers to many of the most common questions.
