If you want to use the CaptionSync Smart Player feature to view captions on Vimeo videos, please note the following, before making your List of URLs request:
1. Ensure the video allows embedding and allows playback as embedded:
Sometimes playback in embedded players is disabled. If the owner of the video does not allow embedding and/or playback as embedded, then our Smart Player feature won't work. Please check before making your List of URLs request!
You can check if the owner of the video allows embedding and playback as embedded, by clicking Share under the video. If you see a message under the Embed section saying "The owner of this video has set domain restrictions and you will not be able to embed it on all websites. Please contact the owner if you would like permission to embed this video", then this means the Smart Player feature won't work with the video:
You can test further by copying the text inside the Embed box. Paste it on a text editor, select and copy the URL next to src, and open it on a browser:
If you can't watch the video using that URL, then the Smart Player feature won't work.
How to fix this: If you contact the owner of the video about changing the Embedding setting, they can allow embedding and playback as embedded under General -> Privacy -> Where can this be embedded?, by checking Anywhere, and finally clicking Save.
2. Correct URLs:
- Vimeo URLs need to be submitted to our system in the correct format and publicly viewable (i.e. not protected; but can be unlisted), e.g.:
Please do not submit URLs to editing pages or embed code; only URLs to individual videos.
- Vimeo Premium, Business or PRO users should submit the direct link to video files for third-party players instead. Note that Audio Description results for Vimeo videos are only supported by the Smart Player if you submit a direct link. Here's an example of what the direct links look like:
