Closed Captioning your files with CaptionSync allows you to submit your own formatted transcript. This article shows how to generate a .txt file.
NOTE: Captioning-Only requests are not available for submissions made via List of URLs, or 3rd-party integrations.
Text Formatting:
- Ensure your transcript adheres to our Transcription Guidelines. Note that you need to submit a verbatim transcript of the audio content; not a script or a screenplay. Ensure you also remove all the ancillary text such as title, date, author, header, footer, etc.
- We recommend using Notepad, Word or TextEdit to create the transcript file.
- Save your file as a plain .txt format. If you're saving the transcript from a Word document, see the instructions below for more information.
- For English transcripts, we recommend that it contains only standard US ASCII characters.
- If you wish to submit in other languages (Spanish, French or German), choose UTF-8 as the encoding.
- When you have your own formatted transcript ready, you can submit it along with the media file in a Captioning-Only request. You will receive your caption results in just minutes.
