How do I know if the right Transcription priority was selected?
How do I select the Transcription turnaround time?
The turnaround time for your Captioning and/or Transcription request can be selected on your account either as a default setting or when making the request. Also check the maximum length recommended for requests submitted under each priority.
Setting the default Turnaround Time:
Open the Transcription page, under Settings. Select the priority and click Save Settings:
Setting the Turnaround Time at submission time:
When you check the Transcription and Captioning bundle option, you're presented with a menu where you can choose the priority for your request(s):
Setting the Turnaround Time for AST-Link:
Our AST-Link feature allows you to choose the priority:
- On AST-Link 2.x Windows, or AST-Link G2.x on the Mac, you can select any turnaround time next to Transcription Turnaround, under the Settings tab.
- On AST-Link AppleScript for the Mac, you can also select 1 Business Day Transcription, or 8 Hour Transcription by using the DropToAST RUSH AppleScript droplet. If the default turnaround time set in your account is 2 or 4-Day, then the "Rush" option will translate into 1-Day Transcription. If you want to make "Rush" requests with 8-Hour priority, you need to first set this as the default priority for your account, under Settings -> Transcription Turnaround.
- On the AST-Link 1.x Windows application, you can also select 1 Business Day Transcription, or 8 Hour Transcription by checking the Rush box. If the default turnaround time set in your account is 2 or 4-Day, then the "Rush" option will translate into 1-Day Transcription. If you want to make "Rush" requests with 8-Hour priority, you need to first set this as the default priority for your account, under Settings -> Transcription Turnaround.
Setting the Turnaround Time for 3rd-party integrations:
Most 3rd-party integrations use the Transcription turnaround time set as default in your CaptionSync account, under Settings. But some integrations allow you to choose the priority:
- Several 3rd-party integrations allow the user to select 1 Business Day Transcription, or 8 Hour Transcription, by checking the Rush box. These are: Echo360 (legacy), Ensemble, D2L, Mediasite 6.x, Mediasite 7.x and MediaAMP / thePlatform. If the default turnaround time set in your account is 2 or 4-Day, then the "Rush" option will translate into 1-Day Transcription. If you want to make "Rush" requests with 8-Hour priority, you need to first set this as the default priority for your account, under Settings -> Transcription Turnaround.
- Some 3rd-party integrations allow the user to select the priority from within their own systems. These are: Box, Echo360 ALP, Google Drive, and YuJa. Note that, in these cases, the priority selected on the 3rd-party system will override the default priority set up in your CaptionSync account. So, for example, if you select 1 Business Day Transcription, on your Echo 360 system, that priority will be applied to your requests, even if your default priority on CaptionSync is set up to 2 Business Day Transcription.
- The Warpwire integration allows Administrators to set up the default priority in Warpwire, when configuring the Captioning integration profile. If you're not sure what is the default priority set up in your Warpwire system, please check with your Administrator(s). Note that, for this integration, the priority set up on Warpwire will override the default priority set up in your CaptionSync account. So, for example, if 1 Business Day Transcription is the default priority set up in your Warpwire system, that priority will be applied to your requests, even if your default priority on CaptionSync is set up to 2 Business Day Transcription.
How do I know if the right Transcription priority was selected?
You can see if the right Transcription option was selected, on the upload page:
You can also see which Transcription priority was selected by opening the Status of Submissions page, under the Caption/Transcribe tab, and selecting the Details link to your request:
If you made a request and realized you need to change the priority, just cancel the submission, then resubmit with the right priority selected. If your submission has a status of Transcription in Progress (see the various statuses and what they mean in this article), it unfortunately cannot be cancelled as the transcriber has started working on it. You can however still do another submission with the right priority (though you will be getting duplicate results and paying for both).
Additional Notes:
- Please note that we currently only offer the 8-hour priority option for English Transcription. We would recommend submitting this content as 1-day Transcription, when a faster turnaround is needed for other languages.
- You may not be able to select 1 Business Day Transcription, or 8 Hour Transcription if we don't have capacity at the moment. In this case, please come back later to try again.
