First Time Configuration
The first time you use Digital NLE Captions it requires you to do some set up checking so that we send you the correct results. This is a bit of hassle, but you should only need to do this once.
A: Determine the COL and ROW values for your NLE/card
Use a test video with your preferred codec. Do not select Avid Meridien – QuickTime Animation will work if you’re unsure. Pull it into your NLE and follow the instructions so we’ll be able to determine the correct settings for your black movie.
Note the COL and ROW values which work. If the COL values span a range choose one in the middle.
B: Determine which timecode you are using
Note if we should generate DF or NDF movies for you.
C: Determine which codec you prefer
In order to keep the file size small we can deliver one the following (these are the same codec choices you had for the test movie):
Uncompressed 8-bit 422 (AJA, Blackmagic, Premiere, Final Cut)
Apple ProRes 422 (Final Cut Studio 2)
QuickTime Animation (Generic)
Once you have determined these settings, you're ready to submit your Digital NLE Caption job.
