AST's CaptionSync is an automated system and as such all the billing is completed in an automated fashion to help keep our costs to you to an absolute minimum. In this article we show how to check the costs of billable submissions.
Note: If you are not a customer yet (you don't have a CaptionSync login/account), you can get pricing information for any of our accessibility services by visiting our Get Pricing page.
Pricing:
To check pricing for the services you want to request, or requested already, open the help page, in your CaptionSync account. In the Main price sheet you'll find pricing for the main services (Captioning, Transcription and Production Transcript). In the Supplementary services price sheet you'll find pricing for supplementary services, like Result Review, Video Encoding, Translation or Cinema Certified Result Review.
Seeing Costs for all billable submissions:
Go to Billing -> Billable Submissions. A table with all the billable submissions made within the Last 30 Days is displayed. The cost is listed at the top of the table for all submissions, and under the Cost column for individual submissions:
You can change the value for Date to view older submissions, and you can use multiple other filters, by expanding More options. Then click Submit Query. You can also generate a .csv file listing all the submissions, if you check Download CSV, and then click Submit Query.
Mouseover the billing codes, or click the blue question mark icon to see what they mean. A description of what each Billing Code means is also available in our Billing Codes article.
If you have more than one login using the same billing entity, you will only see billable submissions associated with the current login. But the Primary user and any user with See All Submissions privileges may also see billable submissions for all users via the Billable Submissions for All Users page.
Seeing Costs for individual submissions:
Costs for each submission can also be found on the Status of Submissions page under the Caption/Transcribe tab, or on the Status of Translations page under the Translate tab, by opening the individual Details pages. The cost for the submission is displayed next to Cost, and you can mouseover it to see hourly pricing details and minimums applied to certain services:
When your submission is In progress, you'll only see the cost of the services billed so far. So if, for example, transcription is in progress and captioning hasn't been performed yet, you'll only see the Cost So Far field and you'll need to wait for the submission to complete in order to see the final value:
In some cases, we may not know exactly the cost of your completed submission due to the existence of volume purchase discounts for Postpaid accounts, or volume purchases for Prepaid accounts. For such cases, you'll see the Estimated Cost field and a footnote describing the nature of the estimate:
If you are eligible to a discount for purchasing Captioning and Transcription together, but your original Transcription and Captioning submission failed, you will see the cost for Transcription in the Details page for the Failed ID, and the cost of Captioning in the Details page for the Succeeded ID. Your discount will still be applied when both services are invoiced together:
