CaptionSync keeps media, transcript and result files for different periods of time, upon a successful request. In this article, we summarize our data retention policies for the different input and output files.
Original Media File:
It is kept for 45 days to allow users to request additional services like Video Encoding or Audio Description.
Audio track and Transcript File:
Kept for 6 months to allow users to perform Redos and request additional services like Translation. Note: due to more stringent data retention requirements for data security, we are no longer able to reinstate files older than 6 months, and so, after this period of time, you will not be able to use our free editing tools to make changes to the results and issue new outputs.
Result Files:
Kept for 5 years to allow users access to historical results.
Video Encoding Results:
Kept for 90 days to allow users to download the video within this time frame.
Smart Player link:
Kept for 5 years to allow using the Smart Player with historical results.
