Closed Captioning with Kaltura is easy using our integration. This tutorial describes how to set up multiple CaptionSync accounts with Kaltura MediaSpace.
Using the Kaltura MediaSpace integration with more than one CaptionSync user allows you to separate billing for departments, languages, or transcription turnaround times.
Setup:
Once you have enabled the integration for the first account, complete the following steps:
- If you don't already have a user2, then create a new CaptionSync user, via Settings -> Manage Users.
- Log into CaptionSync with user2, and go to Settings -> Account Features, select Enable my account for Kaltura MediaSpace integration from the drop-down, and click Request Account Feature. You will receive an email updating you about the feature status.
- Once you're notified that the feature is enabled, you can either log into your Kaltura KMC account and go to Settings -> Integration Settings to copy the Partner ID and Administrator Secret, or, within your Kaltura MediaSpace administrator account, go to Manage Configuration -> Client and copy the partnerId and adminSecret.
- Log back into CaptionSync, go to Settings -> Kaltura MediaSpace, and paste the Partner ID and Administrator Secret into the appropriate fields. To ensure you can differentiate this integration from the original one, you will need to add a sub-category name to the Root Category path shown in the screen (MediaSpace>site>channels). So, if you were setting up the second integration for a Biology Department, you could enter, for example:
MediaSpace>site>channels>CaptionBio
Or, if you were setting up the second integration to place Rush (1-day) requests (remember to configure the appropriate default Transcription turnaround time too, under Settings -> Transcription), you could enter, for example:MediaSpace>site>channels>CaptionOneDay
You can leave the last field as is (Category to Monitor), and finally click Automatically Set Up.
- A few minutes later, the full path of the category to monitor shown in the KMC should be:
MediaSpace>site>channels>CaptionBio>CaptionSync Captions>Order Captions
Or:MediaSpace>site>channels>CaptionOneDay>CaptionSync Captions>Order Captions
- At this point, you can configure the privileges of the Kaltura users that should be able to publish to the new 'Order Captions' channel, and also any moderation you want to set it up with.
- Now you can test if both integrations are working as expected, by publishing a video to the original 'Order Captions' channel, and then another one to the new 'Order Captions' channel. The first request should appear only for user1, while the latter should only appear for user2.
Handling a multiple-Department setup:
Once you have enabled the integration for the original account, do the following:
- If you don't already have one CaptionSync user for each Department, create a new CaptionSync user, via Settings -> Manage Users. If each Department requires separate billing, then sign up for a new account.
- Log into each CaptionSync user, and go to Settings -> Account Features, select Enable my account for Kaltura MediaSpace integration from the drop-down, and click Request Account Feature.
To ensure you can differentiate this integration from the other ones, you will need to add a sub-category name to the Root Category path shown in the screen (MediaSpace>site>channels). So, if you were setting up the integration for a Business Department, you could enter, for example:
MediaSpace>site>channels>CaptionBusiness
Or, if you were setting it up for a Chemistry Department, you could enter, for example:MediaSpace>site>channels>CaptionChemistry
You can leave the last field as is (Category to Monitor), and finally click Automatically Set Up.
- A few minutes later, the full path of the category to monitor shown in the KMC should be:
MediaSpace>site>channels>CaptionBusiness>CaptionSync Captions>Order Captions
Or:MediaSpace>site>channels>CaptionChemistry>CaptionSync Captions>Order Captions
- At this point, you can configure the privileges of the Kaltura users that should be able to publish to the new 'Order Captions' channel, and also any moderation you want to set it up with.
- Now you can test if all integrations are working as expected, by publishing videos to the different 'Order Captions' channels, and seeing if they all appear in the correct CaptionSync accounts.
Handling multiple Transcription priorities within one Department:
Once you have enabled the integration for the original account, do the following:
- If you don't already have one CaptionSync user for each Transcription turnaround time required, create a new CaptionSync user, via Settings -> Manage Users. Remember to configure the appropriate default Transcription turnaround time too, for each new user, under Settings -> Transcription.
- Log into each CaptionSync user, and go to Settings -> Account Features, select Enable my account for Kaltura MediaSpace integration from the drop-down, and click Request Account Feature.
If you already have a specific Kaltura sub-category set up for the Department, e.g., MediaSpace>site>channels>CaptionBusiness for the 'Business Department', then you should enter that on the Root Category field. Otherwise, you can leave it as, i.e., MediaSpace>site>channels.
- On the Category to Monitor field, enter a name that will distinguish each integration profile according to the default turnaround time. So, for a profile for 1-day requests, you could enter, for example:
Order Captions 1 Day
Or, for a profile for 4-day requests, you could enter, for example:Order Captions 4 Days
Finally click Automatically Set Up.
- At this point, you can configure the privileges of the Kaltura users that should be able to publish to the new 'Order Captions' channels, and also any moderation you want to set it up with.
- Now you can test if all integrations are working as expected, by publishing videos to the different 'Order Captions' channels, and seeing if they all appear in the correct CaptionSync accounts.
